All that glitters….

is NOT gold.  True dat! 😉

Hello lovelies!

A pop of glitter to usher in spring…..but, what say you Chloe?

I think once you’re past 30 you shouldn’t wear a lot of glitter. ~ Chloë Sevigny

Do you agree?

  1. Happy Birthday to your baby! I love your sentiments here!!!! Mine turned 25 last month! Is is possible? Doesn’t it just seem as if it were yesterday when they were first put into our arms?!
PS: You guys both glitter so well! 😉

  2. Of course you should wear glitter, but I think it is ok to start before 30! Love you HIGH heels and the glitter top!

  3. Meant to say also that I love this look! The shoes, the white trousers, the jacket and the sparkly top, it is just perfect! I don’t think you are ever to old to wear something sparkly!

  4. I know not this Chloe you speak of, but if she’s anti-glitter at any age she is more than welcome to donate any diamonds she receives to me! Obviously Chloe hasn’t seen you in your sparkly top. If she did she’d change her opinion.

    • Haha, yeah! Me, too!
She’s an actress, a fashion designer and a former model. I believe she’s in her late 30’s? I’m guessing she follows her own rules.
Thank you Laurie, for your sweet comment! 🙂

  5. Love the glitter, Jeannie, and your shoes are fabulous!
As for your daughter, she’s stunning just like you! They grow up so fast, don’t they?! Hope she had a wonderful celebration!

  6. Jeannie, for you, I think there are no rules! You rock everything. I have been craving something white and love your combination. P.s. your daughter is just as lovely as you are!

  7. Happy birthday to your daughter! Like mother, like daughter – she is beautiful!!

    As for glitter …
“You’re never too old for glitter” Lora Herrmann – that’s my mom – not world famous but she taught me a lot about style and she wore glitter all her life.

    ❤ carmen

  8. Happy birthday to your daughter , she is so beautiful like her mom. I think glitter doesn’t have a certain age I think it depends on person and how they use it.

    Xoxo,
    Carrie

    • Thanks, Carrie!
I agree with you! I’ve seen gorgeous mature ladies looking fabulous in sequin dresses and tops. I guess I just don’t like rules…especially when they apply to us older folks by younger peeps! haha

  9. First, congratulations to you and your daughter both on her birthday! Beautiful, both of you.
Second: I have to say that I’ve always thought Chloe Sevigny almost always just looks peculiar. Odd. I clearly have not earned any hipster points today, but you DO look very winter-defiant and perfectly springy.

  10. I don’t agree. A wonderful woman like you should wear as much glitter as she can and likes.
Your daughter is a beauty too, I’m not surprised. My daughter is also 24.
Apropos… You look wonderful elegent today!
    Lieben Gruß von Sabine

  11. Another rule to break!!! You look fabulous in your sparkles!!
I can see where your adorable daughter gets her stunning good looks!! Happy Birthday to your baby !!! (BTW–you don’t look old enough to have a 24 year old daughter–did you have her in kindergarten ????

  12. Spectacular! You’re never to old for a little glitter and you’ve styled the rest of your outfit impeccably to let the top be the focal point. As you know, I’m a big fan of a dash of sparkle – and you wear it perfectly! 😉

  13. The outfit looks good on you. But my eyes are on those shoes, LOVE THEM! Ahh and I know how you feel about your daughter. Wishing her years and years of happiness to come!

  14. A very Happy Birthday to your gorgeous daughter. I love when you share a bit of your family with us (they are so beautiful). As for the glitter, you just showed Chloe what it’s all about. Seriously, you look fabulous and very classy. If worn in moderation (as with everything), it can be worn at any age. I wonder what she’ll think of your words when she becomes our age?

    • Thanks, Trina!
haha I wondered the same thing. Chloe is in her late 30’s…wonder if she’s following her own rule?
I agree with you on “in moderation” which applies to just about everything, right? As if we didn’t know this already. 😉

  15. Hi Jeannie,
I love all things shiny and sparkly and your top fits that description to a T. And I love how you’ve paired it with ivory and black classics. Just beautiful! Please wish your gorgeous daughter “happy birthday” from me.

  16. I found that once I turned 50, glitter looked better than ever on me! Seriously though, there is a classy way to wear glitter and you have nailed it Jeannie. Your glitter is actually subtle and looks very elegant. xo

  17. You look gorgeous, and so does your daughter! I love the black jacket with the white trim – lovely.

The idea of putting arbitrary age limits on style is just so, well, arbitrary. One day you wear glitter, and the next day you must not? I think people should wear what they think works well for them in their own circumstances. Even if you’re 31 and you want to wear glitter!

  18. Your daughter is just gorgeous.
I like this outfit on you. I don’t agree with Chloe….well I partially don’t agree with her. A lot is the operative word. I don’t think anyone should wear a lot of glitter. Unless its for a costume! Ok…so I would modify Chloe’s statement to say ” I don’t think anyone should wear A LOT of glitter”. I’m all over the place with this response, Jeannie.
I think you have JUST the right amount of glitz and bling in this outfit. Not A LOT; just the perfect touch.
You always have just the right amount of everything in every one of you outfits. You never miss. 🙂

    • Haha. Thank you, Lisa!
Wonder if a sequin dress is too much? I almost picked one up for a special occasion. What’s too much?
Oh well…not that I really follow any rules. I only listen to that small voice in my head anyway. 🙂

  19. and I just bought glitter heels today, my daughter loves (age 6).. :/ I like the outfit! I hope you enjoyed your bday celebration.

  20. You have the perfect balance; a little glitter and some classic pieces. Too much glitter? How much is too much??/I don’t believe in rules.
    Happy birthday to your daughter!

  21. Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter. She is lovely.
Love your outfit. I’ve been eyeing those exact McQ pants and was wondering about the fit. Would you call them true to size?
Thanks..love your site. You are an inspiration!

  22. Jeannie! I do not agree with Chloe about the glitter thing. I think that it is dependent on how it is worn, the texture of what its paired with…there are a lot of variables! In either event, you definitely pulled it off by pairing the top with a structured jacket. 🙂

Oh, and happy birthday to your daughter!

    xo,
    Kachet

    • Haha Thank you! You realize I could be your mom…..you’re only 24?!! What a stylish young lady you are!
I’ll be sure to remember your advice next time something sparkly catches my eye! 🙂

  23. Congratulations on your daughter’s birthday, looks more like sisters than mother and daughter! Jeannie I love our outfit, it takes Black and White to a completely new level, my favourite colour scheme. Lovely outfit!
    FF

  24. I think you are both right. I bet you Chloe didn not mean NO GLITTER AT ALL. She probably just meant: USE WITH MODERATION. Which you did. And you are showing how wonderful it looks. Perfect outfit. You have combined pieces I would not have thought of.
And of course congratulations on your daughter’s birthday. She is looking as lovely as you are.

  25. First thing first.. your daughter is beautiful!! We are in the same boat, sweetie.. we have adult kids! My eldest turned 22 last January 🙂 And now to the glitter bit – I think over 30 can wear glitters definitely, in small doses that is. You did great to me, hidden glitter under a blazer is perfect! Hope you are having a great weekend and a big birthday wish to your daughter 🙂

    • Thank you, Mrs. C! I think she’s beautiful, too! Hubs and I are really proud of the way she’s making it on her own.
We had a great family weekend celebrating her bday. 🙂

    • Thank you, Pam!
I don’t usually wear glitters/sparkles so this was little out of my comfort zone. Chloe’s statement really didn’t help either but what the heck….I thought it brightened up the black & ivory outfit a little bit….hopefully. 🙂

  26. I love your glitter! Should our entire closet be glitter post 30, 40, or 50? No, but a little glitter here and there keeps the closet fresh and fun. Your daughter is beautiful just like her momma!

    • Aww…thanks, Becky!
I have two glittery piece of clothing in my closet. This old top which was a gift (can’t remember who gave it to me) and a Christmas jacket that I’ve bought 20 years ago and NEVER worn. I think it’s kinda fun, too….maybe I should pick up a few more sparkly pieces for times when I need a pick me up outfit?! 🙂

  27. You have just the perfect amount of sparkle! The details on those pants are incredible. And the shoes are just wow. Happy birthday to your gorgeous daughter. She is your clone!

  28. Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter! Beautiful like her mother.
My daughter will turn 19 this summer and she and I are so close as well.

How dare Chloe say that? As always, it is about the style and the woman who wears it. Your top and the way you combine it is so elegant and sophisticated. I love it!

    Lady of Style

    • Thank you so much, Annette! And for your thumbs up! 🙂
Isn’t it wonderful to have a close relationship with your daughter?!
It’s been such a privilege to watch her grow into an amazing young woman….what a blessing!

  29. Happy birthday to your girl, she is so very lovely! I love your outfit and the way the glitter shirt is toned down with the blue and white but still adds fun and glamour! and what a great bag! SARA

    • Thank you, Sara! I think she’s lovely, too!
The jacket’s actually black with ivory trim. Hard to capture true colors in theses photos sometimes.
I’d hoped the glitter wasn’t too much over the top.

    • Hi Alice! She’s waaaay more beautiful than I’d ever hope to be, but I thank you very much!
I’m so glad you mentioned non-holiday b/c that was exactly what I was afraid of. So, thanks again! 🙂

  30. Those shoes look great and I really like the blazer/jacket. I don’t think wearing glitter should be cut off at any “age” at all ! Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter : ).

  31. My dear same-named friend, I most certainly don’t agree w/ Chloe! Your glitter OOTD is wonderful! Actually, where my glitter tank top is right now is kind of funny – I live in an apartment building that was constructed in 1926, and I swear these drafty old wooden windows are about the same age, and since the wash pile is right there – yep, a draft blocker! I wonder what the neighbors think 😉

What a beautiful daughter you have!!! Belated Happy Birthday to her! You are very blessed, indeed ❤

    • Well, hello Jeannee!! Love your name! 😉
How funny about your glittery top! Does it make a good draft blocker? What glamorous window you must have now!!
I am very blessed to have two wonderful kids (son & daughter). I give all the credit to God!
