is NOT gold. True dat! 😉
Hello lovelies!
A pop of glitter to usher in spring…..but, what say you Chloe?
I think once you’re past 30 you shouldn’t wear a lot of glitter. ~ Chloë Sevigny
Do you agree?

Thank you all for visiting and God bless!
Jeannie
Happy Birthday to your baby! I love your sentiments here!!!! Mine turned 25 last month! Is is possible? Doesn’t it just seem as if it were yesterday when they were first put into our arms?!
PS: You guys both glitter so well! 😉
Completely disagree! Looking stunning!
Disagree! The sequin top adds the right amount of fab to you outfit. Love the shoes too! And, Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter.
Your daughter is lovely…I see the apple didn’t fall far from the tree! You must be so proud of her!!
I absolutely love the glittered top. Just the right amount! The outfit is gorgeous and so is your daughter…xo
Of course you should wear glitter, but I think it is ok to start before 30! Love you HIGH heels and the glitter top!
Totally disagree! Glitter is for all ages and you look great! Happy Easter:)
I love your shoes and…dog!!!!!!!!
Meant to say also that I love this look! The shoes, the white trousers, the jacket and the sparkly top, it is just perfect! I don’t think you are ever to old to wear something sparkly!
What a gorgeous young lady! Like mother like daughter – happy birthday to her. You must be so proud!
i am MORE than ready for spring! love the shiny sparkle of the shirt! and your daughter? as gorgeous as her mother!
Hi lady! How r ya?
Thank you! She’s just as stubborn as her mother, too! 😉
A little glitter goes a long way, I think. And your way is just right. I love the grey glitter with the blue jacket and white slacks. Perfect.
Thank you, Lady Susan!
Happy Easter!!
You can SO pull off the glitter! And your daughter is stunning, just like her mama 🙂
She is stunning! Her mama? Not so much, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart! 🙂
I hope your mom’s doing well!
I love your shoes and this beautiful blaser !
http://selenite.weebly.com
Merci, Luna! 🙂
I know not this Chloe you speak of, but if she’s anti-glitter at any age she is more than welcome to donate any diamonds she receives to me! Obviously Chloe hasn’t seen you in your sparkly top. If she did she’d change her opinion.
Haha, yeah! Me, too!
She’s an actress, a fashion designer and a former model. I believe she’s in her late 30’s? I’m guessing she follows her own rules.
Thank you Laurie, for your sweet comment! 🙂
Love the glitter, Jeannie, and your shoes are fabulous!
As for your daughter, she’s stunning just like you! They grow up so fast, don’t they?! Hope she had a wonderful celebration!
Merci, Mary!
They DO grow up fast! 😦 But, they’ll always be our babies….right? 🙂
Absolutely 🙂
Jeannie, for you, I think there are no rules! You rock everything. I have been craving something white and love your combination. P.s. your daughter is just as lovely as you are!
You are SO sweet! Thank you, Crystal! ❤
Happy bday to your gorgeous girl and I LOVE the McQueen pants!
Thanks, ladies!!
I kinda like them, too! 😉
Happy birthday to your daughter! Like mother, like daughter – she is beautiful!!
As for glitter …
“You’re never too old for glitter” Lora Herrmann – that’s my mom – not world famous but she taught me a lot about style and she wore glitter all her life.
❤ carmen
Thank you, Carmen!
Awww….LOVE your mom’s quote!!! I’ll definitely remember that!
Happy birthday to your daughter , she is so beautiful like her mom. I think glitter doesn’t have a certain age I think it depends on person and how they use it.
Xoxo,
Carrie
Thanks, Carrie!
I agree with you! I’ve seen gorgeous mature ladies looking fabulous in sequin dresses and tops. I guess I just don’t like rules…especially when they apply to us older folks by younger peeps! haha
First, congratulations to you and your daughter both on her birthday! Beautiful, both of you.
Second: I have to say that I’ve always thought Chloe Sevigny almost always just looks peculiar. Odd. I clearly have not earned any hipster points today, but you DO look very winter-defiant and perfectly springy.
Thank you, Jan!
Too bad spring disappeared on us this week. It’s been snowing since Monday…what’s up with that?
I think if you wear it in a sophisticated way, you can pull it off! It’s when it looks too youthful that it starts to look odd on “over 30” people. =D Love how you look in this outfit
xo,
nancy
Thanks, Nancy!
Glad to hear a youngster’s point of view! 🙂
i disagree. If you can pull it off go for it! And you sure can!
Oh, and happy birthday to your daughter!
Thanks, Tey!!
Another rule to break when you’re 30+. When you’re 50+, anything goes!!! Oh yeah! haha
Happy Birthday to your girl. She is glowing in that picture. Her beautiful soul is shining through. And as for you mama…glitter on!
Thanks, Laura! She IS a sweetie!
I’m gonna try!….glitter on, that is. 🙂 I may just pick up that sequin jacket I’ve had my eye on! Take that, Chloe! 😉
I don’t think age appropriate advice is really relevant- wear glitter just look good doing it.
Amen to that!
Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter! I love that glittery top. Let’s see what Choe says when she turns 50.
Haha, yeah! Thanks for the support, Katherine! 🙂
Glitter is good at any age! You certainly prove that point in this gorgeous glittery top. And happy birthday to your beautiful daughter. She looks so much like you.
Thank you, dear Judith!
I don’t agree. A wonderful woman like you should wear as much glitter as she can and likes.
Your daughter is a beauty too, I’m not surprised. My daughter is also 24.
Apropos… You look wonderful elegent today!
Lieben Gruß von Sabine
Hi Sabine!
Thank you so much!
When did our babies grow up? 😦
Another rule to break!!! You look fabulous in your sparkles!!
I can see where your adorable daughter gets her stunning good looks!! Happy Birthday to your baby !!! (BTW–you don’t look old enough to have a 24 year old daughter–did you have her in kindergarten ????
Lol! Yeah Tamera, I was a child bride! 😆
I do THANK YOU for your sweet sweet words!!
Spectacular! You’re never to old for a little glitter and you’ve styled the rest of your outfit impeccably to let the top be the focal point. As you know, I’m a big fan of a dash of sparkle – and you wear it perfectly! 😉
Spashionista (Alicia)
Thanks, Alicia!
I’m glad you like a dash of sparkle b/c you sure do shine! You’re an inspiration!
I don’t think Chloe really gets to comment! We will give her a decade or two, then see what she thinks:). You look fantastic, as always.
Thanks, Lisa!
Haha. Love it! Yes, in a decade or two…..but, I won’t care what she says cuz I’ll be in a nursing home! 😆
The outfit looks good on you. But my eyes are on those shoes, LOVE THEM! Ahh and I know how you feel about your daughter. Wishing her years and years of happiness to come!
Thank you, Robin!
You must have a daughter/child……they are precious, aren’t they?! That’s my wish for her as well…..thank you!
A very Happy Birthday to your gorgeous daughter. I love when you share a bit of your family with us (they are so beautiful). As for the glitter, you just showed Chloe what it’s all about. Seriously, you look fabulous and very classy. If worn in moderation (as with everything), it can be worn at any age. I wonder what she’ll think of your words when she becomes our age?
Thanks, Trina!
haha I wondered the same thing. Chloe is in her late 30’s…wonder if she’s following her own rule?
I agree with you on “in moderation” which applies to just about everything, right? As if we didn’t know this already. 😉
Hi Jeannie,
I love all things shiny and sparkly and your top fits that description to a T. And I love how you’ve paired it with ivory and black classics. Just beautiful! Please wish your gorgeous daughter “happy birthday” from me.
Heather from Friendship, Life and Style
Thank you so much, Heather!
I’ll relay your message to daughter. 🙂
My daughter’s birthday is tomorrow. She will be 19. 🙂
Happy Birthday to your daughter! Sweet 19!
I found that once I turned 50, glitter looked better than ever on me! Seriously though, there is a classy way to wear glitter and you have nailed it Jeannie. Your glitter is actually subtle and looks very elegant. xo
Thank you, Gabriala!
Everything looks beautiful on you! And you definitely do NOT look 50!
You look gorgeous, and so does your daughter! I love the black jacket with the white trim – lovely.
The idea of putting arbitrary age limits on style is just so, well, arbitrary. One day you wear glitter, and the next day you must not? I think people should wear what they think works well for them in their own circumstances. Even if you’re 31 and you want to wear glitter!
Thank you, Val!
Well said! Yes, the age cut off….31. haha
Your daughter is just gorgeous.
I like this outfit on you. I don’t agree with Chloe….well I partially don’t agree with her. A lot is the operative word. I don’t think anyone should wear a lot of glitter. Unless its for a costume! Ok…so I would modify Chloe’s statement to say ” I don’t think anyone should wear A LOT of glitter”. I’m all over the place with this response, Jeannie.
I think you have JUST the right amount of glitz and bling in this outfit. Not A LOT; just the perfect touch.
You always have just the right amount of everything in every one of you outfits. You never miss. 🙂
Haha. Thank you, Lisa!
Wonder if a sequin dress is too much? I almost picked one up for a special occasion. What’s too much?
Oh well…not that I really follow any rules. I only listen to that small voice in my head anyway. 🙂
Beautiful momma! Beautiful daughter! I say wear whatever you want…..in moderation. Love your outfit, as usual!
Thanks, Susan!
Yes, I usually wear what I want even when hubby gives me that funny look. 😉
and I just bought glitter heels today, my daughter loves (age 6)..
I like the outfit! I hope you enjoyed your bday celebration.
Good for you! I’d love a little glitter on my feet! And, your daughter approves!! 🙂
We did have a wonderful weekend with our grown kids.
I am gonna say yes, don’t wear a lot of glitter, but sequins my dear are a whole different story!!!!
brett
Yes, and you wear sequins very very well!!
You have the perfect balance; a little glitter and some classic pieces. Too much glitter? How much is too much??/I don’t believe in rules.
Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thank you, Paula!
Fashion rules…..poo! I think at my age, I’ve earned the right to wear what I want. Who’s gonna care? 😉
A shimmery top, white jeans and classic blazer…what could be better?! OMG, you’re daughter is such a beauty…just like her mama.
Aww…thank you, Lisa!
I don’t know about the mama, but she’s a beautiful person inside and out. I’m proud to be her mom.
I love, love your glitter top and your whole look is fabulous. I must disagree with Chloe, whom I otherwise adore. : > Happy birthday to your gorgeous daughter, and thanks for linking up to VisibleMonday!
Thank you, Patti! 🙂
Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter. She is lovely.
Love your outfit. I’ve been eyeing those exact McQ pants and was wondering about the fit. Would you call them true to size?
Thanks..love your site. You are an inspiration!
Thank you so much, Sue!
Yes, I ordered my usual size, and they fit perfectly. 🙂
Jeannie! I do not agree with Chloe about the glitter thing. I think that it is dependent on how it is worn, the texture of what its paired with…there are a lot of variables! In either event, you definitely pulled it off by pairing the top with a structured jacket. 🙂
Oh, and happy birthday to your daughter!
xo,
Kachet
Thank you, Kachet!
I suppose it depends on one’s personal taste, and you’re right…there are a lot of variables to consider.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! 🙂
Your daughter is beautiful and I think you did the glitter perfectly!!
Thank you! I’ll relay the message to daughter. 🙂
Happy b-day to your baby girl! Awww she’s my age! Wooo!
And hello, you can wear as much glitter as you want, you are twenty something… wait… no?
Looking amaziiiing 🙂
Edita
http://www.pret-a-reporter.co.uk
Haha Thank you! You realize I could be your mom…..you’re only 24?!! What a stylish young lady you are!
I’ll be sure to remember your advice next time something sparkly catches my eye! 🙂
Congratulations on your daughter’s birthday, looks more like sisters than mother and daughter! Jeannie I love our outfit, it takes Black and White to a completely new level, my favourite colour scheme. Lovely outfit!
FF
Awww…thank you, Nocolene! What a sweet complement!
Yes, I love B&W, too!!
I think you are both right. I bet you Chloe didn not mean NO GLITTER AT ALL. She probably just meant: USE WITH MODERATION. Which you did. And you are showing how wonderful it looks. Perfect outfit. You have combined pieces I would not have thought of.
And of course congratulations on your daughter’s birthday. She is looking as lovely as you are.
Thank you Greetje!
I’m sure that’s what she meant…. I think she’s in her late 30’s now so it applies to her also!
I wonder WHEN she made this statement? 😉
You daughter is gorgeous-just like her mom!! What a fun celebration!! You always look so chic in your posts. Get your sparkle on-it looks fab on you and those shoes…….love!
xx, Heather
Heather, thank you so much!!
I think she’s a beauty inside and out, and this mom is very proud of the young lady she’s become.
You and your daughter are both very beautiful. I love your hair as well as your style.
Thank you so much, Annette!
Oh, if you only knew of the trouble I have with my thinning hair!!
Strong resemblance there! Both of you are lovely. Hope her day is great and as sparkly as your top!
Thank you, Tammy!
We were able to celebrate with her this weekend. A little mom & daughter shopping trip while the boys watched basketball was fun, too!
First thing first.. your daughter is beautiful!! We are in the same boat, sweetie.. we have adult kids! My eldest turned 22 last January 🙂 And now to the glitter bit – I think over 30 can wear glitters definitely, in small doses that is. You did great to me, hidden glitter under a blazer is perfect! Hope you are having a great weekend and a big birthday wish to your daughter 🙂
GREETINGS FROM DUBAI
MRS JACK OF ALL TRADES
http://mrsjackofalltradesdaily.blogspot.ae/
Thank you, Mrs. C! I think she’s beautiful, too! Hubs and I are really proud of the way she’s making it on her own.
We had a great family weekend celebrating her bday. 🙂
I agree…a pop of glitter is always in style!! But, over the top glitter can actually age us. Your style, as always, Jeannie is exquisite!! Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter.
Thank you, Pam!
I don’t usually wear glitters/sparkles so this was little out of my comfort zone. Chloe’s statement really didn’t help either but what the heck….I thought it brightened up the black & ivory outfit a little bit….hopefully. 🙂
Hi Jeannie, Happy Birthday to your daughter! She is gorgeous!! You look lovely in glitter!! 🙂
Thank you, Patricia!
I’ll relay your message to her. I really don’t want her head to get too big tho. 😉 Nah, she’s a really good girl!
I’m a fan of all things shiny and glittery. You looked lovely!
Paula
Thanks, Paula!
Yes, you can most certainly wear shiny & glitter and look fabulous in it!
I love your glitter! Should our entire closet be glitter post 30, 40, or 50? No, but a little glitter here and there keeps the closet fresh and fun. Your daughter is beautiful just like her momma!
Aww…thanks, Becky!
I have two glittery piece of clothing in my closet. This old top which was a gift (can’t remember who gave it to me) and a Christmas jacket that I’ve bought 20 years ago and NEVER worn. I think it’s kinda fun, too….maybe I should pick up a few more sparkly pieces for times when I need a pick me up outfit?! 🙂
You have just the perfect amount of sparkle! The details on those pants are incredible. And the shoes are just wow. Happy birthday to your gorgeous daughter. She is your clone!
Thank you, Alison!
I wish I looked more like her….. 😉
Nice outfit, Jeannie. I really like the jacket and also top. The white pants are beautiful.
Thank you, Josep! 🙂
Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter! Beautiful like her mother.
My daughter will turn 19 this summer and she and I are so close as well.
How dare Chloe say that? As always, it is about the style and the woman who wears it. Your top and the way you combine it is so elegant and sophisticated. I love it!
Annette
Lady of Style
Thank you so much, Annette! And for your thumbs up! 🙂
Isn’t it wonderful to have a close relationship with your daughter?!
It’s been such a privilege to watch her grow into an amazing young woman….what a blessing!
Happy birthday to your girl, she is so very lovely! I love your outfit and the way the glitter shirt is toned down with the blue and white but still adds fun and glamour! and what a great bag! SARA
Thank you, Sara! I think she’s lovely, too!
The jacket’s actually black with ivory trim. Hard to capture true colors in theses photos sometimes.
I’d hoped the glitter wasn’t too much over the top.
Your baby is beautiful like her mama! Love how you paired your sequin top with a neutral colors to make it non-holiday. Your bag is gorgeous!!
Alice
http://www.happinessatmidlife.com
Hi Alice! She’s waaaay more beautiful than I’d ever hope to be, but I thank you very much!
I’m so glad you mentioned non-holiday b/c that was exactly what I was afraid of. So, thanks again! 🙂
Those shoes look great and I really like the blazer/jacket. I don’t think wearing glitter should be cut off at any “age” at all ! Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter : ).
Thank you, Bre!
Remember that when I show up in all glittery party dress! haha 😉
I’ll relay your message to daughter, thanks!
Oh Happy Birthday to her! I don’t like the idea of rules and absolutes, if something looks good then wear it! I think you always look fabulous!
Amen, Caroline!
Thank you, and I don’t care for fashion rules either….especially when it has to do with age appropriateness. I’m getting bold. haha
Your baby girl is lovely, just like mom—
Michele Sackman
Aww…so sweet! Thank you, Michele!
i like the photo of you sitting down with your doggy! ( awesome shoes ) I’m 24 too! Your daughter is very pretty and fortunate to have you as her Mom!!
Thank you! Oh to be 24 again…. 🙂
Glad you like my shoes and doggy!
I will certainly tell my daughter what you said! 🙂
Damn, you are killing me with those shoes, lady! I think they might be my favourite yet.
Happy birthday to your daughter. Hope you get to celebrate together. 🙂
Haha, thanks Mandy!
We were able to celebrate her bday this weekend. A little shopping, too! 😉
My dear same-named friend, I most certainly don’t agree w/ Chloe! Your glitter OOTD is wonderful! Actually, where my glitter tank top is right now is kind of funny – I live in an apartment building that was constructed in 1926, and I swear these drafty old wooden windows are about the same age, and since the wash pile is right there – yep, a draft blocker! I wonder what the neighbors think 😉
What a beautiful daughter you have!!! Belated Happy Birthday to her! You are very blessed, indeed ❤
Well, hello Jeannee!! Love your name! 😉
How funny about your glittery top! Does it make a good draft blocker? What glamorous window you must have now!!
I am very blessed to have two wonderful kids (son & daughter). I give all the credit to God!
it certainly looks good on YOU!!!
🙂 Thank you, Gail! 🙂
