Came across this story and wanted to share it with you.  Positively incredible….

Tiger1

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs.  Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine.  The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression.  The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother’s cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother.  The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment.  Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species.  The only orphans that could be found quickly were a litter of weaner pigs.

Tiger2
The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.  Would they become cubs or port chops?
Take a look…you won’t believe your eyes.

Now, why can’t the rest of the world get along?

P.S.  The story of tigeress is apparently inaccurate, although the photos are real.  Thanks anonymous for letting me know. 🙂  Check out the link here for the real story behind the photos which is also quite interesting.   I’m sad because I SO loved the story!

Thank you for visiting!

  2. Hi Jeannie,
Great outfit for a rainy day/week of weather. I’m liking the zips on those jeans too, as well as the trench, shirt, bag and shoes. See, I just like it all! You make the day brighter. x Laura

  3. A tiger and piglets?! How is that possible!? I must say it’s a bit quite risky to take this course of action these piglets is in great jeopardy but the thing here is that it’s “NOT”… I believe the lesson was everything is under the matter of “CHOICE” but you need to have the heart to do what is right and for the betterment…

  4. Oh Jeannie…you always give us beautiful, inspiring stories or something funny at the end of your blog. I really enjoy that…whether its a laugh or a heartwarming story.
Love the trench, it looks like the perfect trench. I’ve been seeking the perfect on. I love the classic plaid lining.

  5. Hi sweet friend, looked at post but not commented lately….usually because in a rush. You look so like a “Bond Girl”…….I have a classic trench that belonged to my aunt. I’ll never part with it. Grew up on a farm and yes, we had piglets amuck! Really, very lovable creatures. You know I love cats so I am so thrilled it’s worked out for her..and those babies got a mama!!! You are gorgeous!.

    • Hi Judy! Thank you, thank you!!
      Bond girl?? lol
No, don’t part with that trench! I doubt it will ever go out of style!
I hear pigs are also very smart! Not really into pigs but these are adorable! 🙂

  6. A lovely simple, yet just trendy enough, outfit that suits you perfectly- comfortable and sexy!! My eye was especially taken by the shoes!! I also liked the way you posted the real story behind the tiger photos. It’s interesting to see how legends get started.

    • Sexy?? haha. Thanks so much!
You know… me and shoes….we have a very special relationship! 😉
Yes, someone saw the photos and decided to fabricate a story, very nice story, indeed! I only wish it were true!

  7. That blouse is a showstopper … it’s the bag that complements it the most. Beautiful, as always.
What a great, sweet story … I’m such a cynic, though. I can’t help worrying what would happen if one of the little tiger skins fell off!

  8. Jeannie…awesome as always! I especially love the photo with the lining, the shoes, the zipper legs and bag are all in the shot. A great way to exemplify all the details you pulled together for the look. Do you take your own pics or do you have a friend help you? Just curious, as you are always “out and about” in your shots.

    xo,
    Alyssa

    • Hi Alyssa! Thank you!
I have to give credit to hubs for taking the photos. He’s such a sport.
Most of the photos are taken on the weekends when we’re out and about….usually for dinner. I don’t cook so we eat out a lot! 🙂

  9. You look fabulous as always! And I love the beautiful tiger photos. Have you ever seen Christian the Lion’s reunion with his old owners video on you tube? You would love that story, too. Animals are so cool.

  10. Love your Burberry trench. You look wonderful in it! I’m not going to read the real story about the tigress — I liked your version too much. And the pictures are wonderful.

  11. What a wonderful tiger story!
And you elegant and stylish also in the rain. You changed your boots against very elegant pumps, I envy you. Here it is still winterly and I have to continue wearing boots.

  12. You look so effortlessly chic in your trench. You are inspiring me to dig out a trench that is buried at the back of my closet. I’ve never even worn it!

Regardless of the veracity of the story, your question still stands. Why can’t we all get along? After all, we are supposed to be the civilized species…

  13. I’d seen those photos and story before so was interested to see the “true” story. Still pretty amazing that the tiger didn’t eat the piglets though.
Wonderful outfit! I love the combination of the floaty blouse, the snakeskin shoes with those fabulous rock star jeans.

  14. You look amazing, but your compassion for animals is your most beautiful accessory. Thank you for sharing the tiger’s story with us!

  15. Jeannie, if you ever want to clean out your closet, there’s a girl in Dallas that will take anything and everything. 🙂 My goodness do I ever love your style! That Burberry trench is absolute perfection. You are such a class act. My daughter loved the piglet tiger cubs. What a sweet story.

    • Haha, I’ll be sure to remember that! 🙂
You are very sweet, thank you! I enjoyed your post on trench coat… you look pretty hot in trench & leopard!
I’m glad your daughter like the cute little piglets!

  16. Awww…what a wonderful story and I cannot believe it! The piglets dressed in tiger stripes! Now…on to your your outfit which I LOVE!!!! Where do I start? The burberry trench is amazing, I bought my first one about 5 years ago in black when Burberry hadn’t converted their fabrics so it’s 100% cotton which has faded horribly over the years. I love that blouse, the back is awesome and the Tod’s D-Bag is a top favorite of mine! One of my favorite handbag designers, I have 2 of their bags.

  17. Burberry is always a classic looking trench. And where do you find all your great stories? This one was amazing…so touching. I wonder how long the “relationships” lasted…

    • Thank you, Heather!
I have this wonderful “retired” friend who sends me inspiring stories. However, I think this story isn’t accurate. The photos are real tho. I still love the story!

  18. Jeannie, if you need a trench coat, this Burberry is the way to go. A classic and good for years.

Now if only the rain would stop here in Atlanta and the sun come out…I’d be less cranky. Although the tiger story definitely cheered me up!

    Have a great Sunday!!!

    Cheers,

    April

  19. Love the trench. I own a green trench style jacket and would so love to own a Burberry one … and of course, I can’t not mention the shoes – you know my love of shoes. The tigger-piggies are just adorable.

  20. Aw what a sweet story with a great message. Your outfit looks really good. Very sophiscated. The trench…the heels…very nice : ). Hope you have a lovely day. God Bless

  21. Oh, that is so sweet!!! I’m just gushing over this sweet story. And you’re so right, why can’t we all get along like this?

Oh, did I tell you how classy you look in your trench?? Lovely too!

  22. Oh geez, you still upstage the striped creatures, but boy are they adorable. I am a Burberry fan from way back, and it’s a good thing…what is with this rain? You look amazing! Sun tomorrow…
