A dog’s seeing eye dog….wow!

seeing eye dog 1

Lily is a Great Dane that has been blind since a bizarre medical condition required that she have both eyes removed. For the last 5 years, Madison , another Great Dane, has been her sight.

The two are, of course, inseparable.

I hope this story made you smile! 🙂

Thank you for visiting!

  1. You look so natural and pretty in your photos. How do you do it? I love the boots-they look like the perfect winter boot.
Thanks for sharing the story of the dogs-so sweet. Lovely post!
    Thanks for the ongoing inspirations.
    xx, Heather

  2. Great pics, Jeannie! I hope you weren’t in the way of those terrible storms today. The tornado sirens were wailing all day today, so eerie, but at least our area dodged the bullet. Tomorrow will be colder, but much more peaceful, thank goodness!

    • Hi Elisa!
We’ve had strong winds and heavy rain but no tornado. I heard some homes and roads are flooded. We are currently without power. A few candles and lanterns are our only source for illumination. Oh how I wish we didn’t get rid of our generator. I’m hoping for the power to come on any minute now!
      Pleeze!
      Glad you are safe!

  3. Such a nice sunny weather walk with your adorable King Charles! and then the story!! Oh! Looks like a happy day! And I am certain there is no way you are 50…. Im going to go look aroundyour blog now!! so happy to “Meet” you

    • Hi Bobbie!
Thanks for visiting! Due to some wicked rainstorm, we are without power right now. So nice to meet you, too. I will come visit when we get power and Internet back. I hope it will be soon!

  4. Love your layers, those colors and patterns mix so well. The boots are amazing and the puppy is a sweetie!
I have read about Lily before. Both my doggies are rescues so I love all dogs and do what l can for local shelter and rescue groups.

    • Thanks, Alicia!
Yes, my Tobi is a sweetie! I’m not too shy about bragging on him. 🙂
Both of my kids adopted their dogs from shelters and now, they can’t imagine their lives without them. It’s a good thing! 🙂

  5. Ohhhh, that story is so sweet and the pictures are even sweeter!! That is just precious and warms my heart. Look how Lily still smiles through the adversity and adapts regardless of her handicap. Humans and animals are amazing creatures.

Oops, did I forget to mention how cute you look? Well, you do! I love that sweater so much, I’d grab it off the rack if I saw it.

  6. Amazing animal story; it just makes me happy to see this kind of love. Toby made an appearance today! He’s looking so handsome with his hair in the breeze. Life is good! Thumbs up on the pattern mixing for you pretty lady. Loving your look, as always 😉

    • Thanks, Laura!
You know, I’m gonna be known as the “dog lady” if I keep posting photos of Tobi and stories about dogs all the time! 🙂
Hey, that’s okay. It is what it is….I love them, what can I say? I AM A DOG LADY!! 😆

      • Don’t change a thing. I love your blog and your big full heart. I’m taking care of a neighbor’s dog for 3 weeks (little westie) so I get to have a little dog time again. SO looking forward to it.

    • Aww….sorry Ariane. I shed a few tears, too. I think Lily, although she’s blind, is a very happy dog. She’s a lucky dog to have companion like Madison to make her life worth living. We can only hope to be so dedicated to our partner/friend. 🙂

  7. Of course. You take a big plaid and a big stripe and put it on a petite lady, and … voila …. amazing proportions. Would you please tell me why that works so well?! Enjoy the sunshine! (And I always love the dog photo-essays … this one made me so happy to see. Thanks for that, too.)

  8. Another great layered look and I’m so happy you got some sun. I really must say, I think you’ve got to have your pup in all of the pictures. So cute!

  9. Jeannie, you look marvellous in this casual outfit! I can see how happy sunshine makes you and your dog and I can understand it so well. The story of the dogs makes me smile, dogs are so wonderful.

  10. You make layers look fabulous! And the boots are the perfect addition to your post filled with sunshine. Who knew – a dog’s seeing eye dog. So sweet!

  11. This is another great look. I showed your blog to my mom, she loves your style and says to tell you that you look great and she loves your handbags as well 🙂

  12. I can so relate to your dreary weather and I also know how wonderful it is when we received the gift of sun, even if its for a few short hours. I love everything about your cozy outfit. You do such an amazing job combining comfort into classy attire. And, can I just tell you, you have one of the cutest dogs around.

  13. You always find the most endearing, sweet stories to share, ma chere. I love the story about the Great Danes! And I love those boots you are wearing. Enjoy the sunshine. Are you sure you haven’t been living in Michigan??? ; )

  14. As always, you look great……yes, great outfit but YOU look great!!!!! Our weather, cold, warm, cold, etc…….lots of runny noses around here. I’m a big fan of these two puppies. Amazing aren’t they….we humans could learn a few things from the fur souls! Toby has his game on, he knows how to work the camera! Love you Jeannie, you bring joy to my life. j.

    • Hey Judy!
Have you been sick? Hope it wasn’t the flu. Hubby had the flu and it’s wicked.
I know, Tobi is a hoot. And he’s so photogenic.
Thank you for your friendship! Love you, too! 🙂

    • Hi Robin!
Thank you for visiting! It’s a men’s watch by Citizen Echo-Drive with a brown leather strap (Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar 200 Meter Chrono Titanium Watch – Leather Strap – BL5250-02L). Hope this helps!

    • Thank you!!
I bought the boots from shopbop.com last year. It’s 50% off right now but they only have two sizes left. piperlime.com also have a few sizes left on sale, too! If they don’t have your size, I’m sure you’ll be able to find them online if you google the name of the boots: “Lela Knee High Boots” by Kors Michael Kors. Hope this helps! 🙂

  15. A very youthful and cute outfit. I love the sweater and shirt. I like the color and that is baggy. With these boots is a very nice and casual look. I really like this casual air in you.

  16. Love those boots! Glad you’re getting some nice weather to get out a bit. You dog looks so clean and spiffy. It’s been raining here for the last few days and our dogs…not so clean. The seeing eye dog story is so sweet.

  17. Your puppy looks so happy to be frolicking in the sun. Loving this black/brown combo with pattern mixing. Your boots are gorgeous. I’d love to have your collection of leather goods! What an inspirational story about the seeing eye dog. We have a lot to learn from animals.

  18. Jeannie, I love your outfit, the boots and the sweet expression on your dog’s face. I especially love Lily and Madison…so sweet. I used to have a Dane and they are pretty awesome.

  19. The way you wear these two layers is absolutely perfect! I will have to do it more often. Thanks for the inspiration.
As for the dog tale, this is one of the most wonderful dog stories ever.
Enjoy the sun. Send us some snow and cold if you are tired of it 🙂 🙂 🙂

  20. I have to admit that I have never been a fan of black and brown together, but you wear it so well and it looks lovely on you. And I love love love the dogs, of course.
