Dark & Gray with a Bit of Humor

I almost resent the whole fashion thing.  Good God – never wearing the same thing twice and all of those things.  It’s a pain in the ass. ~ Jennifer Aniston

What a problem to have…eh? 😉

Any golfers out there?  This one’s for you! 🙂

country church

Skipping church

Father Norton woke up Sunday morning and realizing it was an exceptionally beautiful and sunny early spring day, decided he just had to play golf. So… he told the Associate Pastor that he was feeling sick and persuaded him to say Mass for him that day.

spring day

As soon as the Associate Pastor left the room, Father Norton headed out of town to a golf course about forty miles away. This way he knew he wouldn’t accidentally meet anyone he knew from his parish. Setting up on the first tee, he was alone. After all, it was Sunday morning and everyone else was in church!

At about this time, Saint Peter leaned over to the Lord while looking down from the heavens and exclaimed, You’re not going to let him get away with this, are you?”

The Lord sighed, and said, “No, I guess not.”

Just then Father Norton hit the ball and it shot straight towards the pin, dropping just short of it, rolled up and fell into the hole. IT WAS A 420 YARD HOLE IN ONE!

St. Peter was astonished. He looked at the Lord and asked, “Why did you let him do that?”

The Lord smiled and replied, Who’s he going to tell?

Have a blessed day!

    • Wow, can’t imagine the size of your closet!! 😉 I think I still have a few pieces from 20 or so years ago….somewhere in the basement? Are they considered vintage? 😀
      Thanks for visiting, Ariane!

  1. Jeannie, It’s been way to long since I’ve been here! You really look amazing. This is on the inside and the outside. You have such a sweet smile on your face, and it is your sweet soul about you. I have to figure out the best way to follow along Gracefully 50… by email or Bloglovin’ are my two top choices. Anyway, I’ve missed seeing your smiley, happy self and great sense of style! Hope you are well!

    • Ooh, you are just way too wonderful. Thank you for this!
I’m like you…can’t remember jokes and terrible at telling one. Always miss the punch line. 😉
Hope your hubby got a chuckle out of it.

  2. Poor Jen 🙂
I wish we all feeled this way…
What a terrific coat, Jeannie. You are so stylish as always 🙂 I really love your black sleeves hutting out from your coat!

  3. haha, great story. i often skip church on sunday depending on what’s going on. mostly because of sick kids, birthday parties or just to give my hubby a break. sometimes it’s nice to have a lazy sunday. but i’m so grateful that i can just tell my pastor and she completely understands 🙂 I LOVE LOVE LOVE that jacket on you. it’s got great structure and is so flattering. the shoes are very cute too!

  4. LOLOL! Love that joke! So funny. I love the smart coat you’ve got on. I need another so I’ve been hunting around for one that’s a good fit. Love Jennifer Aniston’s humor too. I think both my readers and I will pass out from boredom if I ever write a strictly fashion blog. My clothes are in heavy rotation.

    • Haha, Glad you found the joke funny! Hubby thought it was a good one…well, he’s a golfer.
You have a wonderful blog! Interesting topics, humor, and well written. Great photography, too! 🙂

  5. What a beautiful jacket and I love the shoes too 🙂 you look great! Oh, to have Jenn Aniston’s fashion problems…..

    • Hi lady!
Thank you! Kinda goofy looking, imo. If you only knew what I thought about my photos…. 😦 I honestly don’t know what I’m doing posting them online….. Really? I’m having one of those days wondering what I’m doing with this blog and where I’m going with it. Fashion? Personal style? Narcissism? Oh boy, sorry to unload on you. My hormones must be acting up. Lol.
Hope you have a great week, Elisa.

      • Jeannie, I’m here for you to unload on…any time! I think everyone has anxieties about blogging, I sure do. I can’t even remember what possessed me to start in the first place, and when I did, it sort of took over my life! Don’t question yourself, you have such a warm presence and provide an uplifting experience for everyone who visits your blog. You ARE TRULY inspiring! Beautiful, inside and out. My daughter is graduating from high school in May, and I’m having trouble reconciling the time I spend on blogging versus the time I should be spending with her. So I might be taking a break soon… but I’ll let you know! Lets always keep in touch, okay?

        Elisa

        • Yes, do let me know and we’ll definitely stay in touch. Thank you!
Btw, my comments are not showing up on WordPress blogs. Have emailed them for help but haven’t heard anything yet.
That building on your recent post – been in that area so many time but never noticed the shape. I’m so oblivious. You should be an ambassador for Atlanta and GA with your wonderful posts about our State. 🙂 I’ve learned a lot from you, that’s for sure!

  6. Jeannie, Sometimes I hate clicking on your new posts because I always have so much PURSE envy. Rarely does that green eyed monster take over me but always and I mean always your bags get me! Now, that being said. You look lovely in neutrals but I honestly think you are one of the lucky ones that looks great in anything!
I wanted to thank you for your sweet comments on our Little Man. I ache that they live 2000 miles away in Seattle and feel blessed that we were able to go. Our vacations are always centered around warmth, sun and beachy areas……..Why do I think that is now going to change? Hello Seattle I am your new frequent visitor!!!
Have a great week my stylish friend!

    • Hi Tammy!
2000 miles is so far! I don’t blame you for going to Seattle for your vacays from now on. Your little man is just adorable!
As for my bags…..that’s my achilles heel. Mostly, they’re gifts from hubby for special occasions. It makes gift buying easy for him, and I’m a happy recipient! 😉

  7. I love your style and your photos are amazing. So..did you get your feb harpers bazaar?? The fabulous at every age competition is starting…..I really encourage you to participate because you’d be a strong contender.

  8. Another great look, Jeannie! I’ve been away from the blogging world for a bit, but how nice to return and see your smiling face! You’re such a bright spot in the blogosphere—so authentic—a truly beautiful spirit!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Needed a laugh today… thanks! You’re pretty in cool neutrals (my favorite palette, actually.) Textures are just the handiest tool, and here’s a lesson in how to use them. I wish I had seen this blog yesterday when I was in a monochrome mood and ended up looking just blah. I instantly see what I could have done to perk it all up with more variety in texture. When are you going to write a book for us so we don’t have to rely on our own notes?! I’m serious …

  10. I am seriously in love with this look and want to raid your closet, however, I do believe you are much tinier than I am so it would be like the Hulk trying to squeeze into Kermit the Frogs clothing. Wait, Kermit didn’t wear clothing. Well, you know what I mean. What a beautifully constructed coat. The heels…..to die for. The print belt is the perfect touch. Your’e one hot mama!
    Paula
    stylist & larger than Kermit

    • Paula, U Funny! 😆
I doubt you’re much bigger than I am….well, in some areas, yes. Which I envy very much!
Thank you for making me laugh. It’s been a dreary week here with rain and more rain. I need sunshine!!!

  11. Where would I be if I couldn’t wear the same thing twice? I’m guessing naked or in my husband’s clothes! Lovely outfit today. The two-tone patent shoes are wonderful and I like how your sleeves peek out of that crisp jacket. I think it’s time for me to go shoe shopping. You give me such great inspiration. Happy Weekend (almost)!

  12. A gray tailored coat and black jeans can take you anywhere in style. And the quilted Chanel bag, a classic.

As for wearing the same thing twice, some of the things in my closet are probably older than a few of your readers!

    April

  13. Regarding the Jennifer Aniston quote–I just wear the same thing all the time and don’t worry about it!!! 😉 And, of course, you look f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s!!! Loved the joke, too!!! And now I’m going to bed (it’s 1:40 a.m.–ah yes, the life of an unemployed woman–not by choice, mind you but it “ain’t bad”!!! A little tight on the cash side, though . . . 😉

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much!
