As our nation tries to make sense of the devastating tragedy that occurred in Newtown, Conn. on Friday, I’m keenly aware of the overwhelming sadness that’s crept into this mother’s heart. The anticipated Christmas preparations and my daily worries seem so trivial in the light of this horrific event. I cannot fathom the unimaginable pain the families of the victims are facing. I cry with them….
May we, as a nation & humanity, pray for God’s grace for those whose lives are forever afflicted by this evil act.
And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9

Thank you so much for this beautiful post. I wake up every morning with a feeling of dread. What is this world coming to? Like you a lot of joy has been sucked out of Christmas, but as a Christian I believe I must put my faith in God. There is no safety in this life. It’s all illusion. There is only safety in God.

You have expressed my sentiments; this horrific crime is devastating, and the families will miss their children for the rest of their lives. May God comfort with the assurance that heaven is a wonderful place. We will suffer here a little longer, but in His presence is fulness of joy! There is no more death, no more sorrow, no more pain in heaven.
May we know in our hearts the reason for Christmas, that Jesus came to save us and through faith in Him, we too, shall behold Him when the day comes for us to leave this earth, and God shall wipe away all tears from our eyes.

Such heartbreaking news. I can’t imagine what the parents of these young children whose short lives were snuffed out are going through right now. May God bless and watch over them.
I appreciate the post you have written and the kind thoughts that you have expressed. I have been so heartbroken over the news in CT. Seeing posts like yours brings a small amount of comfort. There are good people, with good hearts that care so very much.
You’ve spoken for so many of us.
My mind can’t even begin to wrap itself around this. My kids are home with me today, I want to keep holding on but know I have to send them back out into this scary world. Faith is all we have. Faith will get us through.
Especially in times of such evil acts – we should also be like them where they are always so diligent in creating so much chaos, we should also be diligent and be stronger than ever. Let’s make like Care Bears and shine our light to cast away all evil! (((( SHINE ))))
