Hello friends!
Brown says stability, reliability, and approachability. It is the color of our earth and is associated with all things natural or organic.
When these photos were taken last Sunday, the outside temperature was quite chilly, and I was whining like a diva! A diva? Moi? It’s this blogging gig, I tell ya!
Contrary to my childish behavior, I’m sporting a conservative & age appropriate outfit in shades of brown and black. Do I look approachable? 😉
Yeah, it was cold…I’m such a wimp!
😆 😆 😆 😆
Now, how do you explain this to kids?
Hope you’re having a good week!
Skirt: Jones New York Collection Cardigan: BCBGMaxAzria
Trench Coat: Dana Buchman Bag: Prada Shoes: Michael Kors
Love love love this..its so modern classic. Brown is probably my favorite color to wear.
I really enjoy the irony of the last photo on your page..you always give me something to laugh about!
Thank you, Lisa!
Glad I could make you smile!
You look graceful indeed in this beautiful skirt, Jeannie. A style marvel, as per usual! 🙂
Sweet Edita! Thank you very much!
I love this outfit! You are looking so chic!

Thank you, Alice!
Hope you’re having a good weekend!
Jeannie, you look beautiful in this rich brown skirt and animal print top. Your beautiful smile makes you so very approachable.
Thanks Lisa! You’re very sweet!
Love your look, Jeannie! You look fantastic and approachable 🙂
Thanks Marie!
Congrats! Notre Dame won again! 🙂
Love that last photo! You look fab in black and brown, it’s one of my favorite color combinations. Love the flare of that skirt.
Thank you, Patti!
Absolutely you look approachable and chic, and stylish and___________ (just fill in with any fabulous word).
Please give us a tour of your closet one day. It must be like a boutique I’ve never seen you with the same purse (or shoes) twice!
Sheila! You are too funny!
No, not a boutique…..okay, maybe I have a bit of an obsession with bags and shoes. 😉
Thank you, you’re very sweet!
Absolutely approachable. Gorgeous in many ways, fine tuned, on trend. But the very first thing that I thought when I looked at this ensemble was “tasteful” … and I mean that in it’s very best sense. Another is “pitch perfect.” I have always had a problem with perceiving leopard print as sort of tacky. Really, I’ve never seen it done with better taste. I also love how the shoes look like a pop of color against the other neutrals, making a little showcase of fall color. (Sigh…) you are wearing one of those classic outfits that I’d love to be able to put together and wear with such aplomb. I’m envious … but I’m reminded of something important that I’ve forgotten lately. I’ve been pushing myself to wear more bright color, but I’m reminded that neutrals can look effortless and work together in amazing ways.
Oh my goodness! What a wonderfully thoughtful comment this is! I truly appreciate this so very much!
I am a “neutral” person, but I have been trying to wear more colors, too. I call it “happy” outfits. But, I’ll always revert to what I love when it’s all said and done. My closet will attest to that.
Thanks again for your so so sweet comment! ❤
the sweater! the shoes!! I like !
Thanks! Glad you like! 😀
The outfit suits you well, very well indeed !
Thanks Sanah! 🙂
IIIII Love It!!!! Loving the pleated skirts, so retro modern. I must do this!
Hi Judy!
Girly, you are a hoot! THANK YOU! ❤
love brown and black together
a pleated skirt is always a great choice
brett
Thanks Brett!
I love your look, the brown and black look is so chic. My fav is the pleated skirt. I love that picture , if she is 100 she should be able to do what she wants. She earned the right!
Carrie
Thanks Carrie!
She looks like a one tough lady! Doubt anyone would dare tell her to do anything she doesn’t want to…including stop smoking. 😀
So gorgeous! I LOVE that skirt Jeannie. The entire outfit is yummy, like a chocolate chip brownie with animal print frosting. 🙂
Yummm! Now you’ve got me thinking of something sweet to eat…and it’s sooo late. 😦
Sheesh! There’s no more room for my cursor to move down the page. 😉
I love brown so much but I find that I can’t find the clothing I want in that shade. I’d wear brown all year round if I could but it only seems to come out in the fall and winter, and even then there’s not enough of it. You’d laugh if you knew how many times I enter “brown” this or that in a search bar hoping to find what I’m looking for. You look soft, classy and beautiful here!
Lol! Joni, you’re one to talk!
I’m shocked! I always think of you as being colorful, creative, funny, and cheerful! Brown is just so….brown! It doesn’t say “Joni” to me?!
Elegant, approachable, luxe and beautiful.
x Laura
Merci Beaucoup, Laura!
You really do give me waaay too much credit! But, I love ya for it! 😉
lovely pics!
love the bag and the leopard.. xo!

Hi Paula,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am a long-time brown addict, probably due to the way it gives one an air of being grounded and credible or serious. I adore this combination of brown with pleats! Also, those amazing shoes really up the awesome on your look.
You are keeping me inspired to dress inspired.
You are so sweet!
Because of your love for nature/flowers/plants, it doesn’t surprise me at the least that brown would be one of your fav colors. I inspire you? Best compliment, ever! Thank you so much! ❤
Even though brown is considered a neutral I think it is classy. Especially the way you wear it !
Thank you, Arlene! I can be classy…sometimes! 😉
That outfit is perfection! It might be “age appropriate” (I can’t tell you how much I dislike those words) but its also very, very elegant. I love the shoes and the bag. Wish it would get cold here so I could wear some layers already!
Haha! I know how you feel about that phrase!
I’m jealous you’re still able to wear that gorgeous, sexy, flowy tunic! 🙂
Yes, you look elegant, yet approachable. I love the top picture with bokeh, so pretty!
Thank you, Elisa!
That photo actually reminded me of your photos! See how good you are? 🙂
You look both elegant and approachable! That leopard jacket is a winner, and I love the sleeve treatment with the trench!
Merci!
I really love animal print! It just takes a little bit to change the whole vibe of an outfit, imo. 🙂
So age appropriate, but then you rock it with the leopard and the metal heels. Love it!
Thanks Amanda!
Age appropriate – ok. Boring – hope not! 😀
What a stylish look ! It seems to be very comfy too !

Thanks Christel!
Yes, very comfy!
Great look! Very sophisticated yet sassy! Love the skirt! And that bag!
Hi Kenya!
I like sophisticated & sassy! Thanks! 🙂
I love the pleated skirt! And I love how you included the meanings of the color brown, so cool. Yes – you look very approachable – and smart and stylish. 🙂
Why, thank you!
I have been told by some that I come across snobbish. Me? No way! Oh well, I guess I’d better wear “brown” more often! 😉
Oh Jeannie, don’t listen to them. Your entire blog is about grace, style, approachability and welcoming interaction. And you do all of it so well! 🙂
You and the outfit are gorgeous!
Thank you, so sweet!
lovely!
Thank you!
BROWN is my fav color too 😀
Adore your pleated skirt – I have a brown pleated maxi skirt which I have never worn yet, haha!
I definitely would wear it exactly the way you do – its stylishly classic, never wrong! XOXO!
What? Go pull that skirt out and start enjoying!!
You don’t just look approachable you look fantastic!
Love the leopard skin with the pleated skirt, a mix of fierce and ladylike. 🙂
Um…as for explaining the photo…she took it up for her 100th birthday – if you live that long you can start smoking too?? Or maybe…she just borrowed it to have something to light the candles with???
Cheers,
Laura
Lol! I don’t know but I doubt anything or anyone can stop her from smoking at this stage of her life! I say, God bless her!
Exactly!
If she has made it this far, she kind of deserves to be able to smoke if she wants to!
🙂
You are looking great, as usual. The photo, again, is hilarious.
Thank you Sara!
I’d like to know her secret to living to a 100…it can’t be the smoking, right? 😀
Your outfit is so stylish, from your coat down to the belt down to your metal heel shoes. I want to buy this outfit!
Haha, thank you, Lisa!
Glad you stopped by! I love your doggie, and you have a really cute blog!
I inherited my love of brown from my mom. In her day, I don’t think brown and black were worn together but I think it’s a great combo.
Yeah, it wasn’t too common in the past but it’s definitely a popular combo these days. I think it looks great together, too!
Gorgeous, as always, my dear! You make brown beautiful!
Awww, thank you so much!
Jeannie is a lovely outfit, with fall colors very balanced. Do not think that’s a conservative proposal, is elegant, beautiful and lovely. Always looks good combination of black and brown, and the pleated skirt is great. The jacket gives the outfit more casual touch, perfect. A lovely outfit, you look lovely with him.
Thank you, Josep!
You’re right on about the trench coat making this outfit more casual.
As always, I really do appreciate your thoughtful comment. 🙂
Yes you DO look approachable! Love the jacket and the pleated skirt is gorgeous. That photo is sad and funny.. and I don’t know how to explain it except that some folks just seem to survive despite all odds!
It might be a little too late to tell her that smoking can kill you?! 😆
