So what’s the good news?

Hi everyone!

Jeans: 7 for All Mankind   Shirt: Joe’s Jeans   Vest: Ralph Lauren

Bag: Louis Vuitton    Shoes: Charles David

++++++++++++

I had an eye appointment today….been having problems reading smaller print more so than before.  I’ve also been experiencing some pain in my eyes as well.  The verdict? I have dry eyes.  Doctor:Have you been going thru some changes?”  Me:Umm…yeah, for a while now……ahh, 💡 got it!”  Nuff said.  New lenses prescribed – this time I chose bifocals b/c I never got used to the progressives.  The good news?  My corneas are healthy! However, I do have a mild astigmatism in my left eye…”oh, but that’s normal for people our age” says doc. Oh great!

Now on a happier note, I want to thank a few bloggers for some wonderful awards!

A special thanks to Le blog de Marie for A Beautiful Blogger Award.  What a beautiful and talented lady she is!  Her stories and photos are just so wonderful!

A big thanks to Becky of I’ve Got A Story for A Beautiful Blogger Award.  She’s an educator, an empty nester, and she loves her family.  In her words, “Life is a journey…have faith and persevere.” Need I say more?

Thank you Jaime of With Muchness for One Lovely Blog Award.  She’s a dancer and a writer living in NYC.  She’s young!  And, she’s impressed with my style and wants to be like me when she’s 50!  Did I say I love her yet? 😀

Thank you to reversecommuter, a fashion blogger, for One Lovely Blog Award.  She’s stylish and fun! Her Fashion & Finance Friday posts are so interesting & informative!

Thank you so much for thinking of me!

Wishing all of you a fabulous weekend!!

  1. Jeannie,
I’m getting a another pair of reading glasses this month, so I feel you. I had no idea that, ‘that transition’ could affect dryness in your eyes. Just another surprise 🙂 I love, love, love those shoes on you, with your weekend outfit. Tres hot.

    • Hi Laura! Thank you!
I didn’t know dry eyes could be caused by “changes” either….Boo. You should have seen my expression when he asked about changes & hormones….I just nodded as the light bulb went off in my head. Yep, another surprise alright!

  2. Hmmm. Jeannie, I heard that same thing from my eye doctor two years ago. They must all go to the same school and have the same beliefs about aging. 🙂 You look so casual and easy in this outfit. I love everything you chose to style it. And that vest. Must. get. a. white. vest. 🙂

  3. Oh, my, no matter how good we succeed in looking as we travel gracefully through the years, the seeing is another story. I was just trying on reading glasses this past week and have been through the dry eye thing as well. Your hair is looking so good with the layers the way you have them. I think I’m embarking on a vest kick for fall/transitional, so I enjoyed the look in this post.

  4. My eyes went bad with chemo ten years ago. Now I have to wear reading glasses just to eat my food. Otherwise it looks blurry and seems to put more strain on them when I’m trying to see my food. I’m glad you have your health!

I had to take a closer look at those great denims. Love them!

  5. Since I’ve been slightly far-sighted since the 5th grade, I just blame my poor eye sight on that, not age. Of course, I’m practically blind at this point, needing correction for distance, mid range, and especially close up. But I’m in denial, using my “readers” in the strongest OTC number possible.

I have trouble seeing street signs at night, trouble reading the signs at the grocery store that tell me how much the broccoli costs per pound, and I definitely can’t read the label that tells me which bottle is shampoo and which is conditioner. It’s tough trying to be beautiful, right?

Oh well. I CAN see that you look awesome in this outfit! I swear I’ve worn practically the same thing- vest, wedges and all. Seeing you looking so good let’s me know I was on the right track. Congrats on all the well-deserved awards, too!!

    • Hi Jean,
You’re making me feel SO much better! I get frustrated when I can’t read the menu!!

Thank you! This look is my usual weekend get-up…I can definitely see you rockin’ it. 🙂

  6. Oh dear…I did not offer wha hoos and hip hip harraahhhhsss for the blogger awards,,,shame on me………CONGRATULATIONS JEANNIE OF GRACEFULLY 50!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!

  7. Oh how I get it about not being able to see! Worn glasses since I was 12, contacts since 16. I was 40-ish when eye doc mentioned I needed reading glasses….I thought I just needed stronger contacts!!! I actually can see to read better without glasses or contacts…Love the outfit. Love the shoes. The bridge, the trees, the everything, is so beautiful!!!! I’m blessed to know you!

    • Oh, Judy! You are so darn sweet! Thank you!! ❤

I suppose I've been lucky that my eyes were good until a few years ago. I'm not complaining…guess it's part of aging. I'm very thankful that I'm in great health. I can handle bifocals and eye drops!! 😀

I hope you have a terrific weekend, Judy!!

  8. I was diagnosed with dry eyes too. They are always irriatated and red. Last fall I had to get glasses..I have progressives. It took a long time to adjust to them. Beautiful photos. I love the foliage in the background!

    • You, too? I had no idea why my eyes were hurting. It felt like I had sand in them. I tried to google “eye pain” and got scared of all the possibilities…..too much info on the net.
I’m happy it’s only dry eyes. I think I can handle eye drops 4 times a day.
The photos were taken at a mountain resort nearby…..it’s more dramatic in the fall!

  9. Hi Jeannie. Beautiful photos. New style in the blog, or is it just my impression? I’m not used to seeing you in jeans. I love the shoes and bag. The whole outfit is perfect you.

  10. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 2 & progressives for many years now!

I love your casual outfit and I’m dying to know where these pictures were taken. What a beautiful backdrop!

    • Age 2? Wow! I’m not sure why, but I could never get used to my progressive lenses…I gave up!

The photos were taken at a mountain resort near our home. The grounds are gorgeous, and the restaurant is a good place to get a bite to eat while enjoying the beautiful views.

  11. I am just getting to the point where I will need a bifocal soon. I have been blind since age 11 so wearing glasses/contacts is nothing new. Like you, I have a feeling I will just go with the bifocal and not even try the Progressives. My husband has those and all he does is complain about them…and they are tres expensive.

As for the outfit…you are as cute as ever.

  12. Oh my gosh Jeannie.. seems to be universal (with the crowd I’m hang-in with!) .. dry eyes and all. Thankfully the parts of our body that are the MOST important are still working well. We can all deal with changing the lens or switching glasses according to task.. not so easy to deal with more serious things!

    Enjoy your weekend!

    leslie

    • I should feel better that this is all part of aging….nah, it’s not helping.
I do agree with you about being healthy otherwise. I know of too many friends struggling with more serious health issues.
      Have a great weekend, Leslie!

  13. my eyes have steadily gone down hill for the last 2 years as far as reading is concerned.
what a bummer not to be able to read, especially small print…sometimes aging really does suck!
hope you have a great weekend
