orange-sicle:: easy to eat ~ hard to wear

Do you remember the Creamsicle?  I do!  It was one of my favorites as a youngster when the ice cream truck came calling~

I purchased this dress to wear to the first University of Tennessee football game this fall…go Vols!  It reminded me of a Creamsicle swirl when I looked in the mirror.  Not too fashionable, but I thought it would be fun to share this loud UT outfit.

Lee Trevino – a true story

One day, shortly after joining the PGA tour in 1965, Lee Trevino, a
professional golfer and a married man, was at his home in Dallas , Texas
mowing his front lawn, as he always did.
A lady driving by in a big, shiny Cadillac stopped in front of his
house, lowered the window and asked, “Excuse me, do you speak English ?”
Lee responded, “Yes M’aam, I do”
The lady then asked, “What do you charge to do yard work ?”
Lee said, “Well, the lady in this house lets me sleep with her.”
The lady hurriedly put the car into gear and sped off.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

      • Thanks for asking, I am afraid to utter it in case I jinx it but I do actually have a small lull occurring right now. I’ve really missed blogging and reading, as well as updating my site, so I am happy to get back on here. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts from the last month or so–I get a lot of outfit inspiration from your posts.

  1. What a great end to your post—so funny! Love the orange dress and of course talk of creamsicles brought back great childhood memories of chasing after the Good Humor truck—creamsicles were my favorite!

  2. I think this outfit is very chic. The vest and the bag make it a perfect day outfit and once they are taken off – the dress becomes extra summer and I can almost hear waves and other beach sounds in my head! Amazing 🙂 xx

  3. That Lee Trevino story is priceless. Very cute outfit on you and I think the vest is a really nice edgy touch. I like the idea of being more covered sometimes too and this is a great way to do it.

  4. I’m loving maxi’s in any color this year (now that I’m wearing them!). You look especially delicious in your orange, black and white. Did your team win? Hope you had a great time which ever way it turned out.

    • Thanks Sheila!
Comfort is this old lady’s first priority these days! Geez…I’m getting old!
The first game is in August, just a preview of what I’ll be wearing. 🙂

  5. i love the dress and the way you layered that vest over it! that’s a brilliant idea because i have a ton of strapless dresses but hate wearing strapless bras! maybe if i just added a vest i could wear a regular one!!! mmm, creamsicles! weren’t they called 50/50 bars? yum!

  6. My brother and sister in law live in Knoxville and are huge TN fans. I’ll tell them if they see the stylish (and beautiful) lady in a stripped orange dress to just walk up and say hi, we’re friends of Tammy! You look great. I also wanted to tell you (may have before) you have the most incredible purses! Every one of them I love!
Lastly,, thanks for your kind comments. Life is sucking right now. I can just hope and pray it gets better shortly!

    • Haha! Yes, tell them to look for a woman who looks like an orange swirl!
      I do have a “thing” for bags…. 🙂
I’m sure your situation will get better….it HAS to. Hang in there, Tammy! ❤

  7. Very comfy look! These hotter days are calling for comfort. You look so darn cute! I’m really into maxis and dresses this summer.

  8. I think this is a great summer look and the color looks perfect on you. I love orange though…my alma mater is burnt orange and it is a bit more saturated, which I prefer. But, so far I have not seen you were anything you look bad in…you always look amazing!

  9. rotflol at the Lee Trevino story. You look so cool and relaxed in this dress … I adore your sandals as well. I’d like to echo Lynne’s comment … spill the beans please … as well as how you look half your age and what your secret to your fabulous figure

  10. Orange is one of my favorite colors and you are stunning in this dress, with accessories of course. Your backgrounds are always so beautiful, but you are the highlight.

I love the Lee Trevino story!

  11. Funny story! What a come back 🙂

Loved Creamsicles, the ultimate summer treat! Great outfit and I think the black vest and bag help pull it together.

    • Thanks Elisa!
I’m totally ready for the first game…it’s going to be at the GA Dome against N.Carolina (I think).
I’ve heard Lee Trevino has quite a sense of humor.

  12. Too funny…the story at the end. You, on the other hand, look really nice in UT colors. Not everyone can say that. In fact, since my parents live in TN, I can honestly report that there are many, many people walking around in orange who in fact should not be. Looking lovely, lady.

    • You’re parents are in TN? Well, they do bleed orange there. It’s a sea of orange in the fall, and it’s a good thing “orange” is an IT color this season…makes it a little easier to wear bright orange!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much!
