Happy Friday!
Pre-blogging Jeannie would not have considered wearing a skirt that couldn’t make up its mind whether to be a mini or a maxi. Yes, the material is silky, the pleats perfect, it wafts in the breeze, it feels youthful, it’s just pretty….but SO not my style. HOWEVER, since I’ve embraced the idea of venturing beyond my comfort zone, this also shall go into the pages of Jeannie’s “trial and error.”
The dark orange blouse? IT IS my style, and I do love! 🙂 Look for similar stylish ladies blouses from Witt International.
I was talking (more like whining) to a friend about the tough day at the office and the price of gas, when she replied how grateful she was just to have a job. Whack! Yes, I needed that. I know of two families who are mourning the loss of loved ones to cancer, and a friend who’s just finished her 5th chemo treatment with 7 more to go…and I’m complaining about a tough day at the office?
Thank you Lord for the whack, and forgive me for my selfish thoughts. Amen. ~ Jeannie
These are creepy ~ so life like!
World’s ugliest house shoes! Give me spiders or even snakes (not really) but rats? Noooooo!
Happy weekend everyone!
Blouse: Free People Skirt: BCBGMaxAzria
Shoes: Kate Spade Bag: Dolce & Gabbana
Isn’t it fun to stretch?! That coral/orange is a beautiful color on you! and those slippers/shoes?ewwwww! And it’s fine to whine. Other people’s troubles may be worse, but that doesn’t mean that your problems are any less, you know?
Thanks Kari! Yes, I’m getting brave…wearing brights, trendy pieces, ripped jeans! Try and stop me now! Lol!
My troubles at the office is nothing compared to what you’ve been thru. I shouldn’t whine.
Jeannie!!
LOVE your take on the high low skirt!! That top is so cool too!!
Those house shoes… SCARY!! Eeekk!
xo, sam
Well, I know you did the hi-low much better, but I tried! 🙂
I do, however, love the blouse…will get much wear this spring/summer!
Sorry about the eek! 🙂 🙂
Hi Jeannie,
I love the high-low skirt on you! I’ve been seeing these a lot on blogs, and you’ve convinced me to get one.
(sorry I can’t say the same about the creepy feet and rat slippers, LOL)
Your Canadian younger sis,
Cathy
Hi Cathy!!!
So glad to hear from you! How are you and your family?
Well, I’d love to see a photo of you if you get one. Email me?
Btw, how your cooking?
Haha, I know! Sorry to have creeped you out! 😉
Please keep in touch!!
Simply gorgeous & stunning!! You look so beautiful, feminine & chic 🙂 Love that you select clothes & outfits that suit you & your style – exactly how it should be for all women 🙂 xoxo
Awww, thank you! Does this mean you approve of this look on me?
I’m on the fence about the skirt…maybe a bit trendy for my age?
Well, trial and error…it’s only clothes. 🙂
Absolutely – I really like this look for you!! Not too trendy for your age in my opinion – the great thing about garments like this skirt is that, while they are quite trendy, they’re not part of a ‘one season wonder’ fashion fad that only suits a select few, if you know what I mean? For me, this skirt is chic, beautiful, & feminine, and though it is a current trend, it’s something that won’t date!! Plus, I love the way you’ve styled the outfit – suits you perfectly. Definitely keep & wear again and again!! 🙂 xoxo
That skirt is absolutely fabulous. I am glad you took the risk. Those shoes CREEPY!
Hi Alicia!
Thank you! It’s amazing what blogging does to your alter ego…
I know…sorry to creep you out! 🙂
Dear Gracefully50, I like the creepy shoes very much.
Can I please have your permission to copy these on my Facebook.
Yours truly, George.
Absolutely!! I got the photos from online.
Jeannie’s iPhone
Thank you very much.
George.
Thanks for showing us this spring trend. I think it’s looks great on you and love it with the orange.
Like so many people, I just lost someone to cancer this month and have other people in my life who are braving chemo right now. We all get caught up in life annoyances. It’s human nature.
Thanks for today’s reminder to count our blessings!
xLaura
Laura, thank you!
I’m sorry about your loss….never easy.
It’s so hard to focus on our blessing when we let our business/work consume our thoughts…shame on me. I need to do better…
Hope you have a fantastic week!
i’ve never seen slippers like that!!!
Haha! Sorry to have shocked you. They are quite horrible!
Oh – My- Gosh….I can’t get over those horrific shoes/slippers. Yuk! I’ve emailed photos of them to my husband. haha
Haha! I know, it’s really nasty.
ah, yes, i love your skirt!! love this different length! love love love:)
Thanks V!
You’d make it look a whole lot sexy!
Those shoes are going to give me nightmares!!!
It is nice to see you out of your comfort zone but really you do not need to worry this outfit looks great on you! I love how you tucked the shirt part in. The colour is similar to a blouse I was looking at the other day in NYC, I can’t decide whether to get a brighter colour for spring or to buy black which will go with everything – but I have a lot of black like you so this is a very nice bit of inspiration here today!
http://www.styleonthecouch.com
Ah, the same dilemma I have when shopping…I go straight to black, every time. I’m trying to break out of that habit for this spring & summer.
Very sexy. I find contrasts & contradictions always interesting! And you are always lovely & inspiring. (although just a youngun’)
Thank you so much Anita!
I love that you called me a young’un!!! Come back everyday, would ya??? 🙂 🙂
I love your posts! I commend you for going against your comfort zone to try new pieces, it’s always intimidating and I myself tend to fall victim to shying away from pieces I consider not in my ‘immediate go-to style’. It looks lovely though! I just started reading your blog and I absolutely love your energy and of course your style, it’s such a fun blog to read and proves that fashion is for everyone =]. Can’t wait to keep on reading!
Hi and welcome!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. And, thrilled that you like it enough to keep going! I see that you are a young blogger…a good writer at that! Good luck and have fun!
Go Gators! My hubby would kill me if he knew I said that. 😉
Haha, thank you. I really appreciate it =]!
I don’t know how I feel about asymerical skirts, but it looks great on you! I need to try one!
Thanks Mandy!
I’m not sure what to think of them either. I’d love to see it on you…since you’re young and cute and all!! You’ll probably pull it off better than I did. 🙂
Oh, but I really like the skirt!!! Top too. Sweetie, you can do nothing wrong! You look great and comfy at same time. Yikes on the house shoes……though they might be fun to wear as entertainment for the cats!!! Have a fun weekend.
Haha! Judy, you are just too funny!
Your cats WOULD love it!!
Thank you so much! You’re so sweet!
Happy St Patty’s day!!
One day when I grow up I just want to be like you, gorgeous and thoughtful! Have a relaxing weekend. xxx
Oh Jen, you my friend, I appreciate so much!
I want you to know that I consider you my cyber bff. I’d love to meet you one day!
Until then, keep me up to date with what’s going on with you via email. I really appreciated your previous ones. Thanks sweetie!
Hi, Jeannie! I found your blog over at the “Fashion Friday” blog hop. I just turned 50 last Sept, and our “baby” is 19. He is currently working and saving up to move out on his own. We got a taste of being empty-nesters when he went out of state for 7 weeks last summer take classes for a music certificate program. The first week was great, but I soon missed him immensely!! We talk every day, even though he has a very busy life. I just recently also have been discovering my “inner passion for fashion”. Your skirt is very unique. I’ve never seen one like it. I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog posts in the future. If you get a change stop on over to mine, too!!
In His Lo♥e, Ann
Hi Ann!
Welcome to my humble blog. I’m a horrible empty nester…I miss my kids soooo much!! I’m trying my best to move on, but dang, I miss having them at home.
I’m grateful that you found my blog worth returning to, thank you.
I’ll definitely visit you.
Happy weekend to you!
LOVE THAT SKIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You look awesome. Enjoy your weekend.
Those shoes are so creepy…
Hi Jasmine!
Thank you! I think the skirt would looked fantastic on you!!!
Sorry to creep you out….I don’t know why I posted them…shock value?
Good weekend to you as well!
This post is the epitome of why I started blogging! You took fashion risks and looked great (LOVE the shirt especially!!) and reflected on staying balanced and grateful in your life. Thank you for the reminder.
Love, Jean

Oh my! Thank you so much Jean!
Your comment’s so thoughtful. It’s a delicate balance in life and fashion…all I can do is my best. You are such an elegant and classy lady…
Thanks again for your sweet words!
You look amazing!! That color looks great on you!
Hi Annie!
Thank you so much! I like you country girl post. I’d live in jeans and t-shirts if I could.
Happy weekend to you!
beautiful! Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks Amy!
Happy St Patty’s day!
top of the morning to you!
jeannie – that’s such a great look. very elegant!!
Thank you June!
Happy St Patty’s Day! 🙂
those shoes are totally creeping me out, especially the feet!
on the other hand, love the mullet skirt and especially since it is pleated
the orange flowy blouse just gives the whole look a nice romantic feel
brett
Glad I’m not the only one who thought the shoes were creepy!! I think it’s because they’re so life like….
Thanks for liking the outfit. It’s interesting to get different feed backs.
Hope you have a terrific weekend Brett!
I’m not creeped out by much — but those rat slippers are disgusting! The feet aren’t much better.
I’m not a big fan of the skirt but I love the color of the blouse.
Haha! I know!!! Hubby actually found these photos and thought they were interesting. Interesting? More like skin crawling creepy!! It doesn’t help that I have a musophobia.
Not like the skirt? It’s beautiful. Maybe not your style, but it looks good. Not a mistake, it’s a change. The shape of the blouse and the shape of the skirt are well matched. Nice.
Thanks Josep!
I can always count on you to be so sweet!
Yes, it’s fun to try different style to see what works and what doesn’t. Having fun is what matters, right?
Have a good weekend!
i like the ‘high/low’ hemlines – for both blouses and dresses. LOVE that you paired a top with a long tail with the skirt… i think the pleats are part of the problem, though. but hey, who am i to give fashion advice? i’m wearing dirty jeans and a 10 year old top today…
happy weekend to you!
Well, if I had my choice, I’d be in my favorite old jeans and t-shirt, too!
I love the shirt but the skirt? It might look better on a younger gal, i.e., my darling daughter.
Have a safe weekend daisyfae! I worry about you! 🙂
You look fabulous. The house shoes on the other hand give me the creeps.
Thank you!
I know! Sorry about the creepy shoes! They couldn’t pay me to wear either one of those…ok, maybe, but it’ll have to be a lot of dough. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about the rats!
Have a fabulous weekend!
I love that shade of orange, so flattering. And it might be orange enough to wear to a vols game!! The back is gorgeous!
Have a great weekend!
elisa
p.s. Those shoes are scary!
Haha! I know! So life like & so creepy!!
Yeah, orange is orange, right? I can hear hubby now….”that’s not Tennessee orange!”
I hope you have a great weekend as well!
I love your blog! I too have the goal of aging gracefully; 50 is only three years away for me. Thank you for your style and your courage to experiment in public and share it with us!
Hi Patricia!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment.
One day, I’ll look back to these blogging days and wonder what possessed me to put myself out there….in the meantime, I’m just having fun while dealing with the sadness of being an empty nester. Better than whining, right?
Have a good weekend! 🙂
I think the outfit looks comfortable and fun…I love drapey clothes. Looks like you could wear that top many different ways.
Hi Bliss!
Thank you! It is very comfy…like, I could run a mile in it comfy!! 🙂
The shirt is versatile…great with jeans.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I loved the way you tucked the front of the blouse in and yet let the back hang, echoing the high/low of the skirt. I like it! Also, I think it’s okay to recognize you’ve had a tough day, but keeping it in perspective is the key!
Hi average!
I love your “about me” page! Just too good!!
Thank you for liking the outfit.
I catch myself whining about small things, when I know there are so many people who are suffering. Yes,perspective… I need to be more mindful.
Have a great weekend! 🙂
