Happy Friday!

Pre-blogging Jeannie would not have considered wearing a skirt that couldn’t make up its mind whether to be a mini or a maxi.  Yes, the material is silky, the pleats perfect, it wafts in the breeze, it feels youthful, it’s just pretty….but SO not my style.  HOWEVER, since I’ve embraced the idea of venturing beyond my comfort zone, this also shall go into the pages of Jeannie’s “trial and error.”

The dark orange blouse? IT IS my style, and I do love! 🙂 Look for similar stylish ladies blouses from Witt International.

I was talking (more like whining) to a friend about the tough day at the office and the price of gas, when she replied how grateful she was just to have a job.  Whack!  Yes, I needed that.  I know of two families who are mourning the loss of  loved ones to cancer, and a friend who’s just finished her 5th chemo treatment with 7 more to go…and I’m complaining about a tough day at the office?

Thank you Lord for the whack, and forgive me for my selfish thoughts.  Amen. ~ Jeannie

  1. Isn’t it fun to stretch?! That coral/orange is a beautiful color on you! and those slippers/shoes?ewwwww! And it’s fine to whine. Other people’s troubles may be worse, but that doesn’t mean that your problems are any less, you know?

    • Thanks Kari! Yes, I’m getting brave…wearing brights, trendy pieces, ripped jeans! Try and stop me now! Lol!

      My troubles at the office is nothing compared to what you’ve been thru. I shouldn’t whine.

      • Absolutely – I really like this look for you!! Not too trendy for your age in my opinion – the great thing about garments like this skirt is that, while they are quite trendy, they’re not part of a ‘one season wonder’ fashion fad that only suits a select few, if you know what I mean? For me, this skirt is chic, beautiful, & feminine, and though it is a current trend, it’s something that won’t date!! Plus, I love the way you’ve styled the outfit – suits you perfectly. Definitely keep & wear again and again!! 🙂 xoxo

  7. Thanks for showing us this spring trend. I think it’s looks great on you and love it with the orange.
    Like so many people, I just lost someone to cancer this month and have other people in my life who are braving chemo right now. We all get caught up in life annoyances. It’s human nature.

  11. Those shoes are going to give me nightmares!!!

    It is nice to see you out of your comfort zone but really you do not need to worry this outfit looks great on you! I love how you tucked the shirt part in. The colour is similar to a blouse I was looking at the other day in NYC, I can’t decide whether to get a brighter colour for spring or to buy black which will go with everything – but I have a lot of black like you so this is a very nice bit of inspiration here today!

I commend you for going against your comfort zone to try new pieces, it’s always intimidating and I myself tend to fall victim to shying away from pieces I consider not in my ‘immediate go-to style’. It looks lovely though! I just started reading your blog and I absolutely love your energy and of course your style, it’s such a fun blog to read and proves that fashion is for everyone =]. Can’t wait to keep on reading!

  17. Hi, Jeannie! I found your blog over at the “Fashion Friday” blog hop. I just turned 50 last Sept, and our “baby” is 19. He is currently working and saving up to move out on his own. We got a taste of being empty-nesters when he went out of state for 7 weeks last summer take classes for a music certificate program. The first week was great, but I soon missed him immensely!! We talk every day, even though he has a very busy life. I just recently also have been discovering my “inner passion for fashion”. Your skirt is very unique. I’ve never seen one like it. I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog posts in the future. If you get a change stop on over to mine, too!!

  26. i like the ‘high/low’ hemlines – for both blouses and dresses. LOVE that you paired a top with a long tail with the skirt… i think the pleats are part of the problem, though. but hey, who am i to give fashion advice? i’m wearing dirty jeans and a 10 year old top today…

    • Well, if I had my choice, I’d be in my favorite old jeans and t-shirt, too!
      I love the shirt but the skirt? It might look better on a younger gal, i.e., my darling daughter.

  31. I loved the way you tucked the front of the blouse in and yet let the back hang, echoing the high/low of the skirt. I like it! Also, I think it’s okay to recognize you’ve had a tough day, but keeping it in perspective is the key!
