The beauty of a woman…

Fabulous Friday to you all!

Time is passing by all too quickly….I don’t usually wish for it, BUT, I’m extremely happy this week’s over for me.  Looking forward to the weekend!

Came across this quote and it struck a chord and wanted to share…

The following excerpt was written by the late educator-humorist Sam Levinson for his grandchild and read by Audrey Hepburn on Christmas Eve, 1992. It was also used by Ms. Hepburn on occasion when she was asked for beauty tips.

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

I really love that last line…“the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

I have a few things to catch up on this weekend and needed an outfit that was comfortable to run around in but appropriate enough to pop in for a nice dinner.  I’m still in a neutral mode as you can see but managed to add a pop of red! 🙂

I use scarves as accessories more than I do jewelry.  This leopard print is one of my favorites.  It brings life to a rather plain outfit…adding just enough color and print without overwhelming the dress.

Speaking of overwhelming….please don’t be offended.  Hubby found this pic ~ my first reaction was exactly what you’re thinking, then I just had to laugh ~ I mean, come on!  It had to be a man who designed this…thing!

If you’re laughing, great!  If you’re offended, I’m sorry!  Have a happy weekend full of laughter!

  1. Haha – you gotta laugh but it’s just terrible!!!

Back to the hepburn quote, actually this quote is also written on my blog, it was one of the things that inspired me when I was thinking of doing a blog about style, looking at my classic icons, and so I loved this one!.

Your outfit is classic here. I love the pieces in my wardrobe I know I can wear time and time again, the pieces that truly last. Beautiful. As an English woman I’m also pleased you have Burberry in here!

    • I know! It is terrible!

When I think of elegance & class, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly comes to mind for me…inspiration!
I do LOVE Burberry…esp the iconic trench and their scarves! 🙂

  2. Your outfit is perfection- just great basics with loads of personality. LOVE the sophisticated cut of the dress, and those shoes! The scarf adds great interest not just the print but the softness plays so well with the clean lines of the dress, shoes and bag. GREAT ensembe, you beautiful lady. Happy weekend to you!

  3. Love your blog!
Just wondering if you could tell me the name of this red Chanel bag in todays post?

Also, a week or two ago you had a white Chloe bag with a padlock on the front, it was a tote…. could you tell me the name of that bag also? I tried to search for it on the purse forum, but had no luck.

    Thanks!
    Traci

    • Hi Traci, Thank you so much! The Chanel bag is called the Expandable Tote from around 2008? The Chloe is called the Paddington Tote, also from quite a few years ago. Hope this helps! Have a great weekend Traci!

      • Thanks so much!!!! I’m already searching online for both!!! 🙂 Thanks for a very inspiring blog!!! You are a beautiful lady!!! Thanks! Traci

  4. You look wonderful! I need to keep my eyes open for a red bag. And that balloon is hysterical. I swear, that’s what I think my butt looks like sometimes!!! Have a great weekend!! Hugs! ~Serene

    • Yep!! It’s kinda disgusting…then I just laughed at the sheer obsurdity of someone going to this length to be what? Funny? Someone with too much time and money and obviously a crude sense of humor. Well, it got my attention and my gasp! 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much!
