Fur-la-la-la

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I’ve been receiving snow reports from several ski resorts…powder here…powder there!  Yea, yea ~  tease me some more. I love snow ~ on Christmas day and on vacation.  We southerners don’t do snow very well…the whole town shuts down when there’s the mere mention of snow.  Just you try to get some bread or milk ~ if you’re late getting to the store, all you’ll find are empty shelves.

There are some days tho, you just want to get away to a cabin in the middle of nowhere, sipping hot cocoa by the crackling fireplace and watch the snow fall.

These boots would be SO appropriate for the cabin..but hey, I wanted to wear them here in the 50F degree weather… 😉

On a side note, I can’t seem to get used to wearing these glasses…they’re progressive lenses, had them for several years, but  I get dizzy after a few minutes of wearing the darn things.   Doc tells me to move my eyes, not my head ~ or was it the other way around?   So frustrating….any tips?

~~~~~~~
I’m looking forward to this weekend… not going to a cabin in the woods, but hopefully away for a few days for a little R&R. I hope you have a great rest of the week, and as always, thank you for stopping by!
  1. Had the very same experience with my first progressives, which were shaped about like yours. I could never “find” the right zone when I needed it! I just kept wearing my readers instead. Finally I went to another optometrist who set me up with “advanced” progressive lens. The difference was incredible. No adjustment whatsoever – no headaches, no dizziness.
  2. Hmm I can’t help with any advice for the glasses but I do know that every time my prescription changes it takes me a long while to get used to it. Good luck! Now let’s talk about these boots they are fabulous. I can see these working for me in the NYC winter too! Lining is essential and you’ve got that covered. Looking great in the cold weather is something I find so hard… you pull it off perfectly!
  4. Have a fabulous weekend Jeannie!! I LOVE those fur boots! {I have 2 pairs like that – I love anything leopard, animal print, and fur – must be a Southern things!} You look so cute in that outfit – definitely snow bunny material!
    xo, sam
    • Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. I’m always surprised that people actually come to visit this little blog and actually like it. As for my pooch, I couldn’t live without him…he’s become one of my kids, the one who doesn’t talk back or ask for money…lol. Have a wonderful day Elisa!
  6. I agree Karissa when I grow up I want to be Jeannie (I’m 50 next Friday) and Jeannie inspires me so much I’m even looking forward to it. Love the outfit Jeannie, here in Australia we are sweltering through summer lol xxx
      • Hi Jenny! Haha! You have no idea how flattered I am that I could actually inspire someone? Seriously, I’m a middle age woman playing dress up and putting it out there in cyberspace for everyone to see…..what am I thinking? All I know is that I’ve met some terrific people like you because of it and that makes it worth while, and I am having fun, too. I consider you my friend, and I appreciate that you take the time to visit and leave me sweet comments to make my day. Lots of hugs to you, and Happy early Birthday!!
    • I think it’s great that your mom can wear your stuff! It works both ways..haha. My daughter likes to check out my closet when she’s home…always looking for something to snatch.
  7. Cute outfit! Boots may be too cute to wear in the yucky, dirty stays-for-weeks kind of snow we get up north.
    I’ve worn progressives since I was in my mid-30’s (was horrified that I needed them!). The tip that helped me was that if you point your nose where you want to see, you should be able to focus. My biggest problem is that I fall asleep reading too often and get the frames out of shape — which throws the progressive lens out of whack. I’m finding myself right now holding my Rx sunglasses in a certain position if I want to read. Oh well! At least I can see to drive in them.
    If it’s really been a few years, you likely need a new prescription and if you could never get used to them, they probably weren’t fitted correctly. Get another exam; get new lenses if you need, at a place that will offer a 30 or 60 day guarantee. Then wear them for a few hours a day until you are used to them. If it takes more than a week, then they are not right and the optical shop should fix them for you!
    • Hi Anne!
      Thanks for the advice! I went back several times after I first got them…told them that I could not get focused, they kept telling me I should give it more time to get used to it. I never did…and I did not want to go back, so I just quit wearing them. I do however wear them to drive which works fine. I should find another provider….or I should try harder to get used to them. I did not know about the guarantee…that would definitely help.
      Thanks again!
  8. terrific outfit – especially with the glasses. took me a few weeks of wearing my ‘progressives’ before i stopped feeling like i was falling all the time. for going downstairs? very tricky. i think it was ‘move the eyes, not the head’.
    • Haha…thanks for the tip. I was too embarrassed to call the doc to complain about the glasses. I know exactly what you mean about the stairs…I almost met my Maker. I don’t have the patients to wear it for weeks at a time to get use to it. Oh…what to do…
      Note to self…move the eyes, not the head!
  9. Love your style! You look absolutely sensational & those boots are gorgeous – I’d find a reason to wear them in any weather too! Well, maybe not in blazing hot, tropical temperatures 😉 You’re entire outfit is stunning – such effortless chic! And a stylish, luxe Chloe bag is always a winner! 🙂
    As for the snow – I hear you! Even though we should be used to it in the UK, the entire country grinds to a halt when the snow comes – I dread snow now, cos cabin fever comes with it. It does look pretty though, & watching it from the cosy safety of a little middle-of-nowhere cabin, with a warm crackling fire & hot cocoa does sound heavenly!
    Enjoyed this post so much! It made me smile & transported me to that heavenly roaring fire in the cosy cabin for a few minutes 🙂 Stay stylish (as always) xoxo
    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I too smile at the thought of getting cozy in a cabin tucked away in the snow covered woods….maybe soon.
      Hope to see you around more. Thanks again!
  10. Love the outfit! It makes me dream of a snowy vacation too. We haven’t seen a whole lot of cool weather here in Alabama so far this winter season.
    I just found your blog just this week and have enjoyed going all the way back through it looking at your beautiful outfits. You’re such an inspiration. (I’m also 50 something. 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much!
